Oldest Cardiology-Cardiac Surgery Center in Kerala located in the middle of serene and green paddy fields. Started as a humble St.joseph dispensary by SD Sisters in 1962, It soon developed into Samaritan hospital by 1969. One of the earliest Cardiology units of Kerala, the heart institute soon became the first to do open-heart surgery in 1972 under Dr. TM Joseph and Dr. David W Thomas. The modern cardiology unit is very active with the latest cath labs, ICU and most modern equipment. Lead by Dr.Koshy Eapen the iconic cardiologist, the unit has state of the art facilities and 24 hours primary PTCA done by a team of interventional cardiologists. The cardiac surgery unit in the present form has been active since 2016, performing most complex coronary artery bypass surgeries, valve repairs and replacements. Led by Dr. John EV , one of the most versatile cardiac surgeons in Kerala, it is now a centre of excellence for beating heart bypass operations with a 100% success rate in elective surgeries consecutively for the last few years.
